Introduction

Saltanat Parveen, a remarkable young woman, has emerged from the shadows of adversity to achieve her dream of becoming a Deputy Collector and securing the esteemed sixth rank in the UPPCS 2022 examination. Her journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the unwavering support of her family.

Early Life and Educational Aspirations

Saltanat’s early childhood was marked by the absence of her father, who had left for Saudi Arabia when she was a mere child. Despite the challenges, her mother, a woman of remarkable fortitude, became her pillar of strength. Undeterred by her own lack of formal education, she resolved to provide her children with a quality education.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Saltanat’s mother relocated her family to Lucknow, a renowned educational hub. She endured societal disapproval and her husband’s resistance to prioritize her children’s future.

Upon completing her intermediate studies, Saltanat pursued B. Tech at Integral University. In her final year, she received an offer from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). However, her heart yearned for a career in civil services.

The Path to Civil Services

In 2017, Saltanat embarked on her arduous journey to become a civil servant. Her family rallied around her, providing unwavering support as she navigated the challenging preparations.

Tragedy, however, struck in September 2020. Her beloved younger brother, Danish, succumbed to a sudden illness. The family was shattered, and Saltanat struggled to focus on her studies and cope with the loss.

Renewed Determination

In the depths of her grief, Saltanat resolved to honor her brother’s memory and provide for her family. With newfound determination, she resumed her studies. Her mother’s unwavering belief in her became her anchor, assuring her that regardless of the outcome, she was already a civil servant in her eyes.

Exams and Family Obligations

Balancing preparations with family obligations proved demanding. Saltanat’s mother’s health deteriorated, requiring surgery. Yet, she remained steadfast in her commitment to both responsibilities.

In 2022, Saltanat appeared for both UPSC and UPPCS examinations. While she did not clear the prelims in either, she refused to be deterred.

Two weeks before the UPSC prelims, her father underwent kidney surgery, presenting an additional obstacle. Once again, she had to strike a delicate balance between her responsibilities and her aspirations.

Triumph and Elation

Through all the trials and tribulations, Saltanat’s resolve remained unwavering. She prepared meticulously for the Mains examination and was filled with relief when she qualified for the interview stage.

On April 7th, 2023, the final results were announced. With trembling hands, Saltanat opened the results PDF and searched for her name. To her astonishment, it appeared on the first page, ranked sixth in the examination. She had achieved her dream of becoming a Deputy Collector.

A Dream Come True

The moment was surreal. Saltanat had always imagined telling her father, “Papa, I have become a Deputy Collector.” As she shared the news with him, tears of joy flowed freely.

Her mother’s health has since improved significantly, and the adversity they faced as a family has been replaced with a renewed sense of hope and happiness.

Motivational Factors

Throughout her journey, Saltanat has been inspired by several factors. The desire to make her parents proud and repay their sacrifices has been a constant driving force.

The story of Mahibullah Sir, an IPS officer, provided her with much-needed motivation. His journey, marked by perseverance and belief, resonated with her and reminded her that success is often within reach if one never gives up.

Lessons Learned

Saltanat’s journey has taught her the importance of resilience, perseverance, and the power of support. Even in the face of tragedy, one must never abandon their dreams.

It is essential to seek guidance and inspiration from those who have paved the way before us. Their stories can provide us with the strength and determination we need to overcome challenges.

And finally, one must never underestimate the transformative power of one person’s success. Saltanat’s accomplishment has brought immense joy and hope to her family and has the potential to inspire others to pursue their own dreams, regardless of the obstacles they may face.
